Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions we hear most about accounts, quality, resume, legality, platforms, privacy, and licensing.
Do I need an account to use Dingdok? +
Yes. Everyone must register an account and sign in; the free tier includes a 3-day free trial (5 downloads per day + media library).
Which quality and format will I get? +
Dingdok lists only the formats the source page actually exposes at parse time. Pick a preferred resolution in Settings, or choose per download from the quality menu. If a site serves a maximum of 720p, 1080p will never appear.
Does Dingdok support resume after a crash? +
Yes. Downloads are split into segments and tracked in a queue database. If the network drops or the app closes, restart Dingdok and unfinished items resume from the last completed segment.
Why does parsing fail on a link? +
Parsing fails when the source page has changed, requires a login, or serves a protected stream. Update Dingdok, confirm the link opens in your browser, and check the platform status page for current availability.
Why do I see HTTP 403 or 429 errors? +
Those status codes come from the source site limiting or rejecting the request. Wait a few minutes, lower concurrency under Settings → Network, and retry. Dingdok never bypasses access controls.
Is downloading videos legal? +
Download only content you own or are licensed to use, and follow each platform’s terms and your local law. Dingdok does not bypass authorization or DRM and does not host or store any third-party media.
Which platforms are supported? +
Version 5.3.0 ships 45+ parsers, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, Bilibili, and X. Each platform page shows an availability status that reflects what the source site currently serves.
Does Dingdok upload my data? +
No media and no browsing history leave your machine. The app contacts a license server only for activation and update checks. See the Privacy Policy for the exact network calls.
How do I activate a license? +
Open Settings → License and sign in — your license is bound to your account automatically. Activation needs an internet connection once; after that the app works fully offline.
